On December 16 Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) held an “admission talk” for international students at the PKU main campus in Beijing to share the business school’s graduate degree options. Students of economics, management, law, and international relations participated. The informational session was a collaboration between PHBS and several divisions of the PKU Shenzhen Graduate School: the School of Transnational Law, Chancellor’s Secretariat Office, and International Committee.

PHBS Dean Wen Hai shared with students PHBS’s history and how the PKU tradition has influenced the business school’s philosophy and mission and has enabled PHBS to become a top business school in China.

The school was established in 2004 and began with the intention to train its students to be both globally competent and experts in their fields. PHBS offers master’s degrees in management, finance, and economics taught in English. The school also offers an MBA program for full-time and part-time students, taught in Chinese. However in fall 2016 the full-time MBA program will convert to English instruction (the part-time program will remain taught in Chinese).  
 
Programs are taught in English in order to give students the tools they need to be business leaders within China and throughout the world. Not only is PHBS the first business school in China to provide all coursework in English (with the exception of the MBA program), but it also boasts a diverse international faculty. PHBS faculty members have earned their advanced degrees from universities from all over the world, including schools such as Columbia University, UPenn-Wharton School, and other well-known universities.

At PHBS, international students enjoy the opportunity to learn alongside Chinese students, creating diversity and integration among students from all over the world. Students at PHBS also have unique access to China’s most entrepreneurial city, as well as close proximity to the financial hub of Hong Kong. As China plays an increasing role in the business and financial world, PHBS will continue to be a leading school that equips students with the necessary skills to become future business leaders within China and throughout the world.
 
PHBS prides itself on excellence in teaching and research aiming to provide its students with a quality education. To that end, PHBS has maintained EPAS accreditation for its Master of Economics degree since 2011. EPAS is an international program accreditation system operated by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD. It aims to evaluate the quality of any business and/or management program that has an international perspective and, where of an appropriately high quality, to accredit it.

The PHBS Master of Finance degree program was recently recognized by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute University Recognition Program. Such distinction signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that the PHBS Master of Finance curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations.
