Amid speeches, songs and smiles, festooned mortar boards and amazing performances, graduates of Peking University HSBC Bussiness School (PHBS) donned caps and gowns to celebrate their achievements and bid farewell to PHBS. Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School this year has 891 graduates, including 35 international graduates all from PHBS. Family members and friends joined them to witness the special events. On July 1, PHBS held its graduation ceremony featuring student and faculty speakers. The PKU Shenzhen school-wide commencement was held the next day at the Shenzhen University Town stadium.

Two years ago, international students from all over the world came to Shenzhen, China’s most vibrant southern metropolis, to start their graduate education at PHBS. As commencement day approached, what would they say to let their stories at PHBS unfold and highlight the most important moments of their life?

Following are a few video clips that share some international graduates’ cherished moments and photos that capture the high spirits of the graduation day.

SvetLana Piskun (Russia) graduated from PHBS with a master’s degree in economics. When asked about her future plans, she expressed her desire to start her career in China because of her intense interest in Chinese culture and business. As farewell day approached, her memories brought her back to the biggest challenge she met and the quality time she spent here.

Khayem Chemli, (Tunisia), also earned a master’s degree in management. He said that if he had the chance to relive life here, he would like to take more courses related to Chinese culture and business practices. He is now doing an internship at a local high-tech company and hopes it will be a stepping stone for his career in China. He plays a piece of violin music in the video as an ode to his most unforgettable memories and as a goodbye to his classmates.

PHBS Dean Hai Wen gave students a copy of his calligraphy work as a graduation gift, on which he wrote “Bravery and Persistence" with the image of Judy Hopps (a rabbit police officer in the Disney film Zootopia). He wishes that graduates always have the courage to chase their dreams with persistence.

These years have passed us by so fast
It seems like we never got the chance
To realize how good life really was
And let the moment last
And it feels like it was only yesterday
When we walked into this place
And said I can't wait till I get out of here
And now as we walk down this aisle
With four years all rolled up in a scroll, you can't help but think
Hey, where did the time go
