PHBS Hosts Student Delegation from the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development

A group of 48 PHD and Master Students and Professors from The Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development (ISSCAD) visited Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) on January 5, 2017, as part of a 6 day study tour of Guangdong Province.
 

Upon arrival at PHBS, the delegation was given a tour of the school and attended a lecture by PHBS Dean Hai Wen entitled “China’s Economy in the “New Normal”: Current Economic Situation and Future Development”.  This lecture was also attended by PHBS Full-Time International Master students.



ISSCAD, which was established at the National School of Development, Peking University Beijing Campus, is a high level PHD and Master’s Program, whose students comprise of senior officials, as well as managers and researchers from the government, academia, the media, NGOs and other organizations in developing countries. The institute’s programs focuses on the teaching and research of principles behind a country’s development and development strategies suitable for students’ own countries.
 
During the lecture, Dean Hai Wen shared his insights and gave an update on China’s ‘New Normal’ and economic development. Students were very enthusiastic about being able to gain valuable insight into China’s transition from an emerging economy toward a developed economy.

At the end of the lecture, students from ISSCAD were given a chance to raise questions and were able to converge together with PHBS students to discuss issues on China’s Economy and compare development practices in their respective countries.

Participants of the lecture expressed their appreciation to Dean Hai Wen for providing an insightful lecture, and that they now have a better understanding of the current situation of China’s economy, and the next steps for China’s development.
