Besides his expertise in economics, Mr. Gong is also renowned for his keen intuition of the market and multifaceted experiences in the banking industry. He received a doctor’s degree in financial economics at Warton School, a master’s degree in physics at Temple University of Philadelphia and another master’s degree in economics at Peking University.

Mr. Gong uncovered the causes that made china’s capital market detached from the real economy during the after-shocks of the financial crisis. He also gave advices to those who wish to work in the financial industry, that it is crucial to follow very closely to the market and to derive understanding of China’s economy from both the theoretical aspects and from the market experience.

A Q&A session was held at the end and Mr. Gong answered a couple of questions asked by the students and shared his insights with them.

Professor Wen Hai took the opportunity to invite Mr. Gong to become the adjunct professor of HSBC business school. It cannot fail but to enlighten our fellow students even more if we can have Mr. Gong join PHSB.
