Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) encourages students to take part in domestic and international top-tier academic activities and exchanges and provides support for them to do so. In June, Ru Jing and Yang Yu attended international academic conferences funded by the PHBS Da Shihang scholarship. The fund was established by the Da Shihang Group to support and enhance students’ participation in domestic and international academic activities and competitions.

PHBS doctoral student Ru Jing was invited to attend the conference of the Asia Academy of Management (AAOM) and the Taiwan Academy of Management (TAOM) in June. She attended the Asia Pacific Journal of Management Paper Development Workshop at the invitation of AAOM and presented The Influence of Economic Development and Institutional Constraints on Entrepreneurial Intentions: The Mediator Role of Perceived Desirability and Perceived Feasibility. Ru co-authored the paper with Prof. Ren Ting and PHBS alumnus Hong Da (now working for the China Southern Fund).

Co-founded by prestigious universities across Asia, AAOM is a non-profit organization that encourages contextualized management research with Asia relevance towards global contribution to scholarship. AAOM’s journal is the Asia-Pacific Journal of Management, which also serves as one of the SSCI management journals. The event marked the 9th AAOM annual conference with this year’s theme Innovation For and From Asian Emerging Markets focusing on how managers can leverage the innovation potential of Asian emerging markets to leapfrog and become world leaders.

Yang Yu at SOLE/EALE World Meetings

Held every five years, SOLE/EALE World Meetings is regarded as one of the top-level conferences in labor economics, attracting scholars from top universities worldwide. However, over 60% of all research papers submitted are rejected. This year only three papers from mainland China were accepted, including the paper co-authored by Yang Yu, Prof. David Ong, Ho Fai Chan, and Benno Torgler (both from Queensland University of Technology, QUT ). The other Chinese papers presented were from Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
