​PHBS Holds its 2019 Opening Ceremony

After various orientation activities, where students from different parts of the world tasted the culture of China through multiple Chinese survival classes and a campus tour, the most awaited Peking University HSBC Business School opening ceremony was held on September 4, a new beginning for all the students of class 2019.

Professor Park introduced the school’s faculty and academic strength to new students. The school has 78 full-time faculty members, and most of them earned their PhDs from prestigious overseas universities, and 30% of the faculty members are international.

Professor Li Di gives remarks on behalf of PHBS faculty 

Professor Li addressed the students on various aspects like how PHBS creates a platform to explore the student's knowledge and prepare the students for upcoming global challenges. His remarks allowed students to understand and learn to overcome the hurdles in life to pave a successful path for the  future. He concluded, “you solve for today so that you can last for long in the future".

Gong talked about the various experiences that one would had at PHBS and gave the details on valuable resources available here . He concluded, “don’t always complain,  cherish the people around you and make friends ".

Yuan shared her journey to PHBS. She said as Shenzhen is the hub of opportunities where one can find dream job and desired designations in various fields, PHBS in Shenzhen could pave a path for students who hope to succeed and make differences in their life. She held that studying at PHBS was a unique choice she made, just as Robert Frost wrote in the poem, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference.”

After sharing her own impressions on PHBS in terms of its faculty, resources and international vision, Frebortova said, "We are here to explore ourselves and diverse our knowledge with help of the China's top institution. Culture and language barriers should not be an obstacle for this progress and let us achieve progress together."

It was followed by a specially produced video, which featured photo montages and clips of the military-type fitness and team-building training in the first two weeks for new students, recalling their vivid memories, laughters and teamwork.


Student performances

Later, international students were divided into 24 groups to remove the cultural barriers. This was one such opportunity where young minds from different fields and different parts of the world would collaborate to showcase their talent and skills through their creative introductions and performance, including dances and choirs. And 68 exchange students also made self-introductions on the stage. In addition to exchange students, PHBS welcomes a total of 361 full-master and doctoral students from home and aboard this academic year.
