Abstract

In this talk, I will give a brief overview of current academic research on innovation and how Australia is working to transform its university sector from one of research intensive to fostering innovation. I will talk about the Commonwealth Science Research Organisation (CSIRO) program ONPrime and how the government is working with researchers to foster entrepreneurism and the ability to negotiate commercial partnerships to increase the impact of research in science, technology and health. I will discuss two education projects that reflect the strategy 1. The development of a Memory MOOC and 2. The Virtual Health Precinct and one health care projects emojifit Diabetes and finally I will talk about teaching innovation with our new Masters of Innovation in Tertiary Education. All the above 4 topics are based on my recent working papers.
