On 20th March 2010, Chairman of HSBC Holdings Plc., Honorary Director of Peking University Stephen Green gave a brilliant speech to students and faculty at North Wing of the Library. Vice President of Peking University Wen Hai, Chief Secretary of PKU Education Foundation Ya Deng, President of HSBC Bank Beijing branch Guoliang Ding and Vice Dean of HSBC School of Business Vincent Chang attended the speech.
Stephen Green shared the value he proposed on his new book “Good Value: Reflections on Money, Morality and an Uncertain World.” and pointed that in a world of modernization, globalization and urbanization, we should have social responsibility and long-term vision instead of pursuing merely economic profit. This is what is called “Good Value” on how to conduct oneself in a world of high finance and ambition.
Stephen Green graduated from Oxford University and received a master’s degree from MIT. He has been working at HSBC Bank for 26 years and was honored as “the banker who created a myth”. In August 2008, HSBC Bank donated 150 million Yuan for Peking University HSBC School of Business and he was honored Honorary Director of Peking University on 21st of March, 2009.
