Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) announced a record year for academic research in 2025, with faculty and students publishing 106 peer-reviewed papers, representing a 5% year-on-year increase and marking the highest annual output in the School’s history.

Among these publications, 78 papers (73.6%) appeared in top-tier domestic and international academic journals indexed by SSCI, SCI, and CSSCI, underscoring PHBS’s growing global influence across economics, finance, management, and information systems research.

Strong Presence in Leading International Journals

PHBS research in 2025 was published in a wide range of internationally recognized journals, including Management Science, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, International Economic Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Information Systems Research, and Review of Economics & Statistics, among others.

In total, 28 papers were published in top economics, finance, and management journals, including 15 articles in internationally acknowledged top-tier journals, reflecting both depth and breadth in research excellence.

A Rising Generation of Academic Talent

A notable feature of this year’s output is the strong contribution from early- and mid-career scholars. Of the 15 international top-journal publications, authors included 2 professors, 4 tenured associate professors, and 6 assistant professors, with early-career scholars accounting for more than half of the total output.

Together, these contributions reflect a faculty profile that spans multiple career stages, combining senior academic leadership with emerging scholarly voices.

Looking Ahead

As of December 17, 2025, an additional 28 SSCI and SCI papers—including 17 accepted by leading international journals such as International Economic Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Operations Research, and Organization Science—have been formally accepted and are forthcoming.

Over the past several years, Peking University HSBC Business School has steadily expanded its research footprint across economics, finance, and management. Looking ahead to 2026, the School will continue to advance research across its disciplines and contribute to academic work in related fields.
