PHBS Sargent Institute of Quantitative Economics and Finance
The Sargent Institute of Quantitative Economics and Finance (SIQEF) at Peking University HSBC Business School was formally founded on June 8, 2017. The institute is dedicated to research in fields of macroeconomics, investment, economics, and finance, focusing on the application of artificial intelligence and big data in the analysis of forecasting economics and finance, and analyzes the impact of economic policy using structural macroeconomic econometrics.

The mission of SIQEF is to promote the innovation and development of the frontier areas of quantitative economics and finance theory, and to provide a new theoretical basis for the formulation of macroeconomic policies and the invention of intelligent financial instruments, providing a prospective and professional decision-making reference for a sustainable economic development and macroeconomic policy control.
 
The institute's development goal is to become one of the most influential academic centers to study quantitative economics and finance. The Director of SIQEF is Professor Thomas Sargent, the 2011 Nobel Prize Winner in Economics.
