The Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Peking University, known as SMEA, is a student organization at the Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) that focuses on researching small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The SMEA was established in 2010 with the support of the SME Center of the School. Since then, the association has been committed to staying current with emerging industry innovations and popular topics by consistently monitoring and sharing the most up-to-date industry information. As a school-based student organization focused on research, SMEA is devoted to exploring the growth and value of SMEs, specifically small-cap and mid-cap businesses. By leveraging its strong ties with corporate resources through the SME Center, the association offers its members opportunities to visit entrepreneurship incubators and acquire practical experience in researching and experiencing SME operations.

SMEA's mission is to help members grow by developing good thinking habits, improving their research and communication skills, and preparing them for future learning and work.
The association is constantly building an efficient networking platform that enhances communication among members in school and graduates, enabling them to learn from each other and grow together. Graduates of SMEA are spread across various financial sub-industries, such as securities, funds, banks, VCPE, etc., and provide assistance to members in career planning, job preparation, and other areas

Activities Review

As an academic student organization, SMEA mainly focuses on internal training and academic exchanges. In the 2022-2023 academic year, SMEA organized a total of six training sessions, both online and offline, covering various groups such as consumer goods, TMT, and new energy. The academic department regularly shares internal resources, such as industry strategy meetings and research reports, on an irregular monthly basis for members to learn and exchange.

SMEA also emphasizes internal team-building activities and regularly holds events such as meals, mountain climbing, outings, and parties to promote communication and exchange among members in school.



The association places great importance on maintaining communication with graduates and regularly organizes casual alumni gatherings and dinners for exchange and communication between current and former members in a relaxed atmosphere. Unlike conventional job-sharing events, the topics of discussion among members are not limited to work but also include learning and life, and alumni act not only as career mentors but also as seniors in life.

SMEA represents not only the Small and Medium Enterprises Association but also stands for Sincere, Magical, Energetic, and Ambitious. It is a group of aspiring and dynamic young people, sincere and trustworthy partners, eager to write their own magical lives.
