Abstract
Very few studies in communication research adopt comparative perspectives, but comparative studies can help reveal insights about macro-societal differences and the driving forces behind. Previously, high data collection cost is the major barrier to large-scale comparative studies. But nowadays the huge amount of data that could be harvested and extracted from the internet made comparative studies easier than before. The talk will introduce a few examples of cross-national comparative studies conducted by the speaker and will share the ideas behind those studies.
