PHBS welcomed its new graduate students on August 17, including 290 Chinese students and about 100 international students. Despite the effects of the typhoon,  new students completed their registration process with the help of registration staff, student volunteers and senior graduate students, and started to prepare for this new chapter of their life. Following are photos from the registration and move-in day.

PHBS posted directional signs, handed out brochures and facilitated registration in a few easy steps in one visit to campus. Instead of rushing to several places, students could register for classes, pay tuition fees, and get housing information at the Campus Service Center.

Student volunteers and faculty members arrived at the Campus Service Center around 8:30 a.m. to prepare for the annual event and welcomed new students with friendly smiles and firm handshakes. Wearing PKU T-shirts, volunteers were well prepared to answer questions, give advice and offer help. After registration, students confirmed their living arrangements and moved into their new dormitories.

Since PKU Shenzhen and PHBS received overseas students for the first time in 2009, the number of admitted international students has been on the rise. PHBS Dean Hai Wen commented, “A simple standard of a world-class business school is attracting the best faculty and the best students worldwide to work and study.”

This semester, a total of 73 exchange students and more than 30 full-time international students have enrolled for PHBS programs. According to Bai Ruojing, a PKU Shenzhen staff member, the overseas students are mainly from European countries, including Italy, France, Germany, Russia, and the Netherlands.

Most of the international students hadn’t visited China before and arrived just a few days earlier. When asked what she hoped to achieve at PHBS, Anastasia , a Russian student, said, “To broaden my horizon and get more opportunities.” Eliot and  Arnaud, two Belgian exchange students, also said they weren’t familiar with Shenzhen until they applied at PHBS. They had previously studied in the Louvain School of Management, Belgium, and will stay in Shenzhen for around six months. With international students joining PHBS, all students on campus will benefit from the diversity and have the chance to view the world with broad vision and an open mind.
